Chatham Legacy

In the 1920s, a boy with a dream to grow diamonds began the historic experiments that would launch the world’s leading lab-grown gemstone company.  After many years of research, Carroll Chatham, a young chemist in San Francisco, discovered the secret of growing emerald crystals.  By duplicating the conditions deep within the Earth: temperatures, pressures and chemical makeup, his laboratory succeeded in growing gemstones over the course of a year’s time.  These gemstones possess the same physical, optical, and chemical structure as their mined counterparts. After growing emeralds in 1938, laboratory grown rubies, alexandrites, and a variety of sapphires all came to fruition over many decades of research in the hands of Carroll Chatham. A few years after his passing, his lifelong dream of diamond cultivation finally became a reality for his son, Tom, in 1993. Today, Chatham is still recognized as the leader of laboratory-grown gemstone and diamond jewelry revered for its superior quality and everyday elegance. The company's unbeatable Lifetime Warranty and Certificate of Authenticity assure reliability and long-term value.
